BBB Serving Middle TN and Southern KY Provides Tips to Warren County Residents
Officials continue to encourage residents to evacuate due to a large fire in Warren County.
BBB serving Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky offers tips to residents as they face uncertainty in the upcoming days. “As residents experience this emotional rollercoaster, we want to ensure they are equipped with information,” said Robyn Householder, president & CEO of Better Business Bureau serving Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky.
Prepare for the unexpected by contacting your insurance agent to find out about coverage. Check with your insurance company about policy coverage and specific filing requirements. Save all receipts for food, temporary lodging, or other expenses that may be covered under your policy. Do not make permanent repairs until you get approval from your insurance company.
If you do not have insurance, The American Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other religious organizations in your area will provide support.
Protect Your Pet. If you evacuate, take your pet. If the area isn’t safe for you, then it is not safe for your pet. Prepare a kit with medications, water, and food for your pet. If you are unsure how to care for your pet, contact a local animal shelter or animal control office for assistance.
Avoid Scammers by being vigilant. Con artists posing as government employees, insurance adjusters and contractors may frequent your property. Before providing personal information or agreeing to anything, ask for a business card and let them know you will be in touch. Always avoid making hasty decisions and visit BBB.org to validate credible & trustworthy contractors.
