Increased Cases of Lost Pets Following Fireworks

Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC) will host its monthly rabies vaccination and microchip clinic on Saturday, June 25 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the center.  Everyone is invited to bring their cats and/or dogs.

The State of Tennessee requires rabies vaccinations for all cats and dogs and a current tag as proof, tags are included as part of the $10 fee.  Cash or check only, no credit or debit card payments are accepted for vaccinations.

WCAC experiences an increase in the number of lost pets it receives during times of year traditionally celebrated with firework displays.  As there are likely more fireworks on Independence Day than any other day of the year, the clinic is an opportunity for families to protect their pets ahead of time.

Microchips are tiny devices inserted under an animal’s skin that contains identifying information that can be accessed by veterinarians and animal centers to help reunite lost pets with their loved ones.  To encourage pet owners, Friends of WCAC is covering the cost of all microchips implanted during June’s clinic, which is usually $15.

To expedite your visit, please register your pet ahead of time at www.adoptwcac.org.

WCAC is located at 1006 Grigsby Hayes Court in Franklin, near Franklin Christian Academy.  The center is open to the public Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.; closed Sunday.
