THOUSANDS ATTEND KURDISH NEW YEAR CELEBRATION WHERE CHILDREN RECEIVE FREE SOCCER GEAR FROM JUSTSERVE

JustServe collected soccer equipment for first Newroz gathering since pandemic began

NASHVILLE, TN – Kurdish families across Middle Tennessee gathered in Lebanon last Sunday for the first time since the pandemic began to celebrate Newroz, Kurdish New Year. JustServe representatives organized a soccer gear drive and donated a truckload of free balls, shin guards, socks and cleats for Kurdish children acclimating to their new life in Nashville.

With over 20,000 Kurds living in and around Music City, this annual gathering has grown so large that Mayor John Cooper designated March as Kurdish Heritage Month. JustServe volunteers aim to support Kurdish and other displaced refugees by providing educational supplies, food, clothing and more.

Many local organizations like The Tennessee Kurdish Community Council need help finding volunteers to fulfill life-sustaining needs. JustServe provides organizations with another free resource for recruiting volunteers and connecting volunteers to needs in their local community. It takes just minutes to register on JustServe.org, to list a project, or to volunteer. Volunteers can view local opportunities that meet their interests and schedules.
