We all live such busy lives and most of the time we only slow down to think about our blessings when Thanksgiving rolls around. I would like to encourage you to live a thankful life all year-round and these six ways may help you, as they do me, remember how we can emulate a thankful heart every day of our life.

01

Music

Music is the Universal Language. Nashville is a place where music is inspired, created, recorded and performed. As a form of expression and creative freedom, listening to music has been proven to elevate the mood, reduce stress, and increase happiness in everyday life. Who wouldn’t be thankful for that?

02

Sports, Sports And Even More Sports

Here in Middle Tennessee, we love and have incredible sport options. The Nashville Predators, The Tennessee Titans, The Nashville Grizzlies & The Sounds, to name a few. In addition, we are working to bring major league baseball, The Nashville Stars. For those who would prefer to watch college sports, there is also plenty of that. Thanks to all of the many universities.

03

BBQ

Barbecue spots are popping up all over Nashville. Nashville features smoked meat specialties that are native to the regions close to us here in Middle Tennessee:  Alabama white sauce smoked chicken, St. Louis-style ribs, Carolina vinegar and Memphis dry ribs. The city is quickly rising through the ranks and offering some of the country’s most delicious slow and low cooked meat. There are so many to pick from it is hard to know where to start.

04

Volunteer State (not just a nickname)

Tennessee became known as the “Volunteer State” during the War of 1812 due to the key role played by volunteers from the Tennessee militia. Since then, after a tornado tore through the city and as the major catastrophe turned to recovery, thousands of volunteers deployed to aid in cleanup after a tornado tore through the city. Hundreds of volunteers gathered to clean up the town of Waverly and help the victims of the deadly flooding in Humphreys County. For more info go to Hon.org.

Nashville Hot Chicken

Nashville hot chicken is a type of fried chicken that was created by the Prince Family and originated in Nashville. The popularity of hot chicken has spread beyond our parts due to the influence of Nashville’s music industry. There are so many restaurants that make different variants of hot chicken so get out there and start eating!

06

Scenery – Parks/Rolling Hills

Tennessee is known for its natural beauty. Our city is surrounded by some of the most beautiful rolling hills in all of Tennessee. The natural beauty of Tennessee’s many pastures, barns, animals and rolling hills are as much a highlight of the state as the Tennessee whiskey and country music bars. If you haven’t done so in a while, take a drive and soak it all in.
