Three T’s of Giving: Time. Talent. Treasure – Generosity and Giving Takes Many Forms

Time. The gift of selflessly volunteering can be as simple as shopping for another, stuffing envelopes, collecting needed items, or even volunteering at a one-time event.
Talent. Talents we may overlook in ourselves are oftentimes needed and appreciated by others – organizing skills, data entry, creative fundraising, raising awareness through social media, cooking a meal, playing music for others to enjoy, gathering supplies – the list is limitless.
Treasure. Cash donations are always appreciated, and greatly needed, but new or gently used clothing, outgrown toys and games, furniture, and food are also sharable treasures.
These are special gifts because only you can give your time, share your talents, and open your heart to donate your treasure. If you are called to give this holiday season, below are five local non-profit groups that support individuals in our community and could definitely use your time, talent and/or treasure.
1. Tucker’s House (TuckersHouse.org)
Serves families of children with disabilities to provide home renovation and retrofitting services necessary to make their homes safe and more accessible. Tucker’s House also assists families in accessing resources that can help meet their specific immediate, intermediate, and long-term needs so their child can carry out necessary daily therapy and be as independent as possible. 2. One Generation Away (OneGenAway.com)
Bringing healthy food directly to people in need by donating food seven days a week from local grocery stores and restaurants and distributing to families that currently do not have access to food sources due to economic and/or physical barriers. [CD, GM, VO]
3. My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation (Mybrotherrocksthespectrumfoundation.org)
Providing an inclusive environment in all communities and ensuring all children can attend classes, social skills programs, and have one-to-one attendant care when needed. Also supporting those with special needs through employment and additional resources, and aiding community leaders fighting for children of all abilities. [CD, VO]
4. ShowerUp (Showerup.org)
Building relationships, restoring hope and dignity, and showing the love of God to those in need by providing them with shower services and personal care. ShowerUp’s mobile shower units are clean, safe, and comfortable and designed to be mobile so they can go to those they serve. [AS, AWL, CD, VO]
5. Bridges Domestic Violence Center (Bridgesdvc.org)
Offering life-changing services and programs free of charge to anyone who has experienced physical, mental, or sexual abuse. Bridges is dedicated to helping victims and survivors find a pathway to safety and independence offering resources and support to individuals to free themselves and their loved ones from danger, while living a safe, independent, and happy life.
