Surprise Buddy the Elf Holiday Flash Mob Marks Much-Anticipated Countdown to a Brand-New Signature Attraction at Gaylord Opryland’s “A Country Christmas”

All-New ‘Mission: Save Christmas Featuring ElfTM’ Experience Debuts November 19

NASHVILLE, TENN. (Nov. 6, 2021) — A merry and colorful army of  dancing holiday elves – inspired by Buddy the Elf from the hit holiday film, “ElfTM” – took over Fifth + Broadway in downtown Nashville today with a joyfully festive flash mob to mark the 12-day countdown to the opening of the all-new, interactive experience Mission: Save Christmas Featuring ElfTM, opening on November 19, 2021, in addition to a full lineup of other holiday events and activities at Gaylord Opryland’s “A Country Christmas,” beginning on November 12, 2021.

To mark the headline attraction’s big debut, approximately 50 dancing “elves,” some clad head-to-toe in Buddy’s iconic elf outfit and all donning his signature cone-shaped hat, flooded the dining and entertainment venue in a sea of green to surprise and delight viewers with a spectacular Christmas-themed performance. The energetic flash mob was choreographed to the 90s R&B/pop hit, “Whoomp! (There It Is),” a song featured prominently in the movie during the famous mail room scene, which also is one of the interactive experiences brought to life in the new attraction.

A sleigh-full of surprises was packed into the three-minute tune as dancers performed acrobatic stunts, waved ribbon wands and invited audience members to join the fun. When the tune ended, dancers held cards together to create a giant invitation for guests to visit the new Christmas attraction at Gaylord Opryland when it opens on November 19. Dancers of all ages took part in the flash mob, representing the broad appeal of the holiday film. Following the performance, the Buddy look-alikes greeted guests and posed for “elfies” with audience members, while classic Christmas tunes filled the air.

Tennessee was not the only place in the country to spot dancing elves. Gaylord Hotels across the nation also marked the 12-day countdown by hosting elf-inspired flash mobs of their own. Gaylord Palms in Florida, Gaylord Texan in Texas and Gaylord Rockies in Colorado presented similar flash mob performances today to celebrate the occasion.

Mission: Save Christmas Featuring ElfTM offers guests more than 12 interactive guest experiences in a themed, immersive environment. Guests are invited to journey into Buddy the Elf’s world at the North Pole before making their way to New York City to help save the day by generating enough Christmas spirit to make Santa’s sleigh fly. The new attraction, created in collaboration with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, will be presented as part of this year’s 38th annual “A Country Christmas” celebration at Gaylord Opryland Resort.

Pre-sale tickets are now available, and guests can find more information about Mission: Save Christmas Featuring ElfTM and the resort’s full holiday event lineup atChristmasAtGaylordOpryland.com. The resort also offers several holiday room night and event packages, and ticket discounts are available for active military, veterans, seniors, and teachers, as well as healthcare, police, fire and EMS personnel.
