Like A Kid In A Candy Store – Decorating the Kids Playroom for Christmas

When it comes to decorating a home, the playroom is often the most overlooked space. But with seven children, sophisticated design enthusiast Jenny Reimold needed to make her home’s playroom a shiny, happy place. She says, “With seven children, ages three to seventeen, the playroom was designed to be a place where the older children could watch movies with friends while also serving as a cheerful place where the young ones could create and explore. I wanted this room to grow with my family yet I wanted it to be a stylish space. I didn’t want a room filled with primary colored tubs that resembled a preschool…I wanted a whimsical space that I could relax in despite that mess and chaos that occurs.”
Last year, the adoption and foster care advocate transformed the room in to a Christmas wonderland for her kids. Jenny states, “I just wanted to create a celebratory space for Christmas in an area we gather in as a family. Using colorful bulbs inside a white tree, I created an ombre effect within the tree and then accented with traditional pastel bulbs, glass bulbs and paper mache unicorns.
