Nashville Restaurateurs Chris Raucci and Victoria Rothberg Announce New Restaurant ‘Flatiron’ Opening in Midtown May 3
The seasoned hospitality team behind answer. to open sister restaurant in Midtown flatiron building
Nashville, Tenn. – The Midtown flatiron building will soon be home to a new neighborhood restaurant, Flatiron, from Chef Chris Raucci and Victoria Rothberg, the owners of beloved Sylvan Park restaurant answer. Opening May 3, Flatiron will be a classic Nashville gathering place where everyone is welcome. Inspired by the city and designed for its residents and visitors alike, the new restaurant at the Broadway-Division split will have something for everyone.
“We instantly fell in love with Nashville and its people when we first visited years ago, which is why we both put roots here and it’s why we’re excited to open our second community-minded restaurant in another buzzing area of this great city,” said Rothberg, who will serve as owner and general manager of Flatiron. “People sometimes forget Midtown is its own neighborhood with a unique identity. We wanted to open a restaurant that plays off of Midtown’s energy, so Flatiron will be a fun, approachable environment that operates as a second home for locals and a lively spot for visitors.”
Whereas answer. offers innovative dishes with global influences meant to intrigue diners, Chef Raucci will have a more laid-back approach to the menu at Flatiron with a dialed-in mix of American classics and modern fare. Starters offer a range of craveable sharables such as whipped goat cheese, dry-rub wings and crab & artichoke dip, and the salads stand on their own with options like crispy tofu with quinoa, kale, edamame, cucumber, crispy wontons and peanut vinaigrette, or steak salad with tomatoes, candied walnuts, gorgonzola and fried onions over lettuce. For the main course, “sandwiches & such” include a classic, veggie or tuna burger, oyster po’boy and roast pork on a toasted hoagie with caramelized onions, smoked provolone and cherry pepper relish, and entrees range from grilled salmon or Flatiron filet to an indulgent spaghetti & meatballs, fish & chips and more.
Residents of Midtown will be excited to learn that Chef Raucci and Rothberg are bringing their popular happy hour to the neighborhood, a feature that’s become a Sylvan Park community staple at answer. Available Monday through Friday, the happy hour menu at Flatiron will feature specials on snacks, draft beer, wine and a weekly cocktail. During the other just-as-happy hours, the bar menu will feature classic, well-executed cocktails, rotating beers on draft and wines by the glass or bottle.
Chef Raucci and Rothberg have updated the interior of the restaurant from what was formerly at the Broadway-Division split. Boasting seating for 140 guests, including 40 seats at the central bar, four large booths and mixed dining room seating, the new modern space captures your attention with its bold accent wall, big screen televisions and clean fixtures and details. The exterior is also receiving a face lift with a massive wrap-around mural from Eastside Murals that will encapsulate Nashville and Tennessee through colorful and iconic imagery.
The project has been a year in waiting, as plans to originally open in spring 2020 were quickly dashed as the pandemic took hold and the Nashville hospitality industry faced its own crisis.
Executive Chef Chris Raucci expands, “We were ramping up to open Flatiron in May 2020, but we quickly went into survival mode at answer. once the pandemic hit so that we could continue serving our loyal patrons. While we never expected our second restaurant to be delayed a year, we are actually quite excited about the timing of our opening. It’s a great season to introduce another entertainment concept to the Midtown neighborhood, and we look forward to welcoming the Nashville community, and beyond, to our new restaurant in a few weeks.”
The long wait is over and Flatiron will open to the public on Monday, May 3. The restaurant, which is located at 1929 Broadway, will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Sunday with a weekly happy hour and weekend brunch.
