Worldwide Charter

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, in conjunction with the Academy of Eating Disorders, National Eating Disorder Association and the Eating Disorders Coalition, Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee is working in the state of Tennessee to launch the Worldwide Charter for Action on Eating Disorders. A news conference is scheduled at the Tennessee state Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 25. This will be held during National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (Feb. 23-28, 2009).

The charter’s goal is to raise awareness among local legislators about the challenges people with eating disorders face in accessing adequate medical care, to advocate for prevention programs and to change state law to make treatment more widely available.

Other speakers include Marie Williams, LCSW, Mental Health Assistant Commissioner; Shelli Yoder, executive director of Eating Disorders Coalition of Tennessee; Kitty Westin, founder of Anna Westin Foundation; Amanda Bell and Nan Allison, RD, LPN.
