Williamson County Fair Receives Awards
The 2008 Williamson County Fair presented by Tractor Supply Company received six merit awards, including best web site, at the Tennessee Association of Fairs (TAF) annual convention, held January 15-17, 2009 at the Nashville Airport Marriot Hotel. The TAF membership includes 60 fairs from all across Tennessee, with 3 divisions based upon fair attendance. The fair web site, managed by JLBWorks, received the first place award for the second consecutive year. The 2008 web site committee members were: Linda McLaughlin, Jean Barwick, Julian Bibb and Laurie Noblitt.
The 2008 Williamson County Fair was also awarded second place in the video category for a commemorative photo DVD presented to all fair volunteers; second place in promotional materials for a 2008 Fair Commemorative Case Knife; second place for a fair scrapbook; third place in premium catalogues and third place for the 2008 fair poster. These awards will be presented to the Fair Board at their monthly planning meeting on Tuesday night, January 27th at 4:00 p.m. at the Ag Expo Park, 4215 Long Lane, Franklin.
The 2008 fair, which broke attendance records, featured an expanded midway, exhibits, a wine festival and more. Area residents showed off their skills and talents in over 900 areas of competition including livestock, photography, barbecue cooking, pageants, needlework, baking, painting and field crops receiving a total of $50,000 in premium awards.
The fair is a non-profit organization, and members of the community are invited to become fair volunteers. Dates for the 2009 Williamson County Fair have already been set for August 7th -15th; so plan to join us again as nine days of fun begin, again, the first weekend in August!
