Along the way runners and walkers will travel more than 440′ of elevation change from our underground portal entrance to an overlook of the entire operation.

“While each race in the Quarry Crusher Run Series is unique, our race at the Franklin Quarry is the only one that is a surface and underground mine,” said Josiah Standridge, Franklin Quarry Plant Manager. “We’ve designed the course to allow runners and walkers an opportunity to get up close to the portals of our underground mining operations.”

Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates that form the building blocks for the nation’s roads, bridges, homes, hospitals, schools, office buildings and places of worship. While running or walking the quarry, participants will gain a better understanding of where these essential materials originate.

Event proceeds will benefit BrightStone, a Franklin-based organization that provides adults with intellectual and developments disabilities with year-round vocational training and educational programs.

“It’s a great honor to have a partnership with such a world-class organization. We share Vulcan’s passion for investing in the lives of people and our community. For the past 20 years, BrightStone has been investing in the lives of adults with special needs who are so often overlooked,” said Randy Elliott, BrightStone Director of Advancement. “The financial support we will receive from the Quarry Crusher Run will provide the resources needed to help the adults we serve to live the very best life possible.”

Although the course is much more challenging than that of a typical road race, runners and walkers of all athletic abilities over the age of 12 are encouraged to participate. Awards will be presented to the first, second and third-place finishers in 13 age groups, from a 12-14 age group to a 70+ group. The top three overall men and women will also be presented with an award.

The Quarry Crusher Run Series started in 2012 in Columbia, SC and has been expanding ever since. Vulcan Materials Company now hosts nine Quarry Crusher Runs in eight states. The proceeds of each race benefit local community partners.
