Therapeutic Recreation Programs
Hippie Dance leads April Fun
The Therapeutic Recreation programs offered by Williamson County Parks and Recreation provide year-round leisure activities for individuals with developmental disabilities. Therapeutic programs are led by Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who assist people with disabilities to develop skills and knowledge for daily living and community involvement. Recreation Specialists conduct monthly ongoing programs at three locations: the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.; the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr.; and the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. All programs are open to the public.
Hippies & Hot Pants Dance
Put on your dancing shoes and your finest hippie clothes for the Hippies and Hot Pants Dance, Thursday, April 26 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Have a groovy time dancing to the DJ. Registration is open through April 24 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#10844, $10). A dinner of pizza, salad, and dessert will be served. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. For teens and older.
Miscellaneous Mondays
Paint several ceramic pieces at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. during Miscellaneous Mondays, April 2-30 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. For teens and older. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Please register by March 31 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#11762, $25).
Fitness Fun
Let’s get fit using light weights, resistance bands and stability balls. End the session with a walk. Fitness Fun meets at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Wednesdays, April 4-25 from 4:00 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. For teens and older. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Culinary Creations
This Therapeutic Recreation cooking class is offered at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. For ages 18 and older. Learn to cook a variety of tasty and easy foods. Meets Wednesday, April 25 (patty melts) from 10:30 a.m. to noon, $7. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Potluck and Bingo
Therapeutic Recreation participants are invited to enjoy free potluck and bingo from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at the Franklin Recreation Complex (#10851), or Wednesday, April 11 at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr. (#11271). Participants (teens and older) should bring a dish to share. Meat and drinks will be provided. Pre-registration is required at www.wcparksandrec.com. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support.
Nolensville Activity Club (NAC)
Make an art project each month in this fun class. The April activity is wood crafts. All materials and supplies are included in the fee. NAC will be Mondays, April 9 and 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. The cost for this two-week program is $5 per young adult. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Recreation Night at Nolensville
One Tuesday per month, adolescents, (age 10 and older) are invited to a therapeutic recreation activity night at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. Our certified Rec Therapist will lead activities like crafts, exercise and socializing. Enrollment is limited, and the cost is $5 per child. Games Galore
Join the fun as we play outdoor games at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd., Thursday, April 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Includes a dinner of sub sandwiches and salad. For teens and older. $6. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. Parents’ Night Out
Parents of special needs children can enjoy a night out Friday, April 13 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. while recreation specialists supervise activities for kids (ages 6-17). Parents’ Night Out is offered at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. Dinner will be provided. Wednesday Friendsday

Throwback Thursday
Let’s celebrate Earth Day by wearing green on Thursday, April 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Includes Earth Day activities and a barbecue dinner. $7. Friday Fun Day
On Friday, April 27, meet our therapeutic recreation staff at Mellow Mushroom on the Franklin Square at 11:00 a.m. for lunch and shopping. Bring money for all purchases, including lunch, dessert and any shopping. Pick up time is 1:30 p.m. This program is for adults with disabilities. A caregiver is required to register and stay with those needing support. You must pre-register before April 25 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#11356). Bowling
Meet our Therapeutic Recreation staff each Tuesday in April for bowling fun from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Franklin Family Entertainment Center. This is a P.A.L.S. program (People at Leisure with Support) with caregivers required to stay with those needing support. No registration is needed, and the $3.00 fee (bring cash) includes bowling and shoe rental. For all ages.
