Dam Whiskey Co. and Silverbelly Distillery Offer Visitors New Ways to Discover Tennessee’s Whiskey Heritage

NASHVILLE, Tennessee — The Tennessee Whiskey Trail, a collective of more than 30 distilleries and tasting rooms across the state, is welcoming new destinations to its statewide network: Dam Whiskey Co., with locations at historic Hales Bar Dam and in downtown Chattanooga off Market Street, and Silverbelly Distillery in downtown Nashville. From the Tennessee River to the heart of Music City, the new stops expand the Trail’s growing network of local partners and showcase the stories, history and experiences that reflect Tennessee’s rich distilling heritage and continue to make the Volunteer state a leading destination for spirits tourism.

“Whiskey tourism gives visitors a unique way to experience Tennessee, and the Tennessee Whiskey Trail connects them with destinations and communities they may not otherwise discover,” said Charity Toombs, executive director of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail. “Dam Whiskey Co. and Silverbelly Distillery bring distinct new experiences to the Trail, giving travelers even more opportunities to explore the state and the stories behind it.”

Dam Whiskey Co., is located within historic Hales Bar Dam along the Tennessee River in Guild, where the distillery produces a range of spirits, including whiskey, bourbon, vodka, moonshine, rum, gin and agave spirits. Nestled between the Tennessee mountains, Hales Bar Dam was constructed in the early 1900s and operated as a hydroelectric dam until its decommissioning in 1967. Today, the historic site is part of Hales Bar Marina and Resort and has become known as a paranormal destination, drawing visitors from across the country. Dam Whiskey Co. draws inspiration from the site’s history and distinctive setting, with guided tours offering a look inside the barrel room and historic structure, including its underground tunnels, while sharing the history and stories surrounding Hales Bar Dam. For those exploring Chattanooga, Dam Whiskey Co. also offers a second experience at its downtown location off Market Street. Both locations offer tastings and a full bar, giving visitors the opportunity to experience the distillery’s lineup in two distinct settings.

Silverbelly Distillery in Nashville is home to Silverbelly Whiskey, a premium spirit distilled exclusively for and hand-selected by country music legend Alan Jackson. Named for Jackson’s signature silverbelly cowboy hat, the distillery celebrates his music and career through a portfolio of Tennessee whiskeys, including small-batch, barrel-proof and limited-release offerings. Each batch is identified by a “Chart Number” corresponding with one of Jackson’s No. 1 hits in chronological order, beginning with “Here in the Real World.” Located steps from Lower Broadway, Silverbelly welcomes guests for curated whiskey tastings, handcrafted cocktails, access to the Alan Jackson Museum and exclusive experiences, including a backstage VIP tour.

With stops in scenic small towns and major cities, The Tennessee Whiskey Trail offers a road map for exploring the state through its signature spirit. The latest additions follow the recent welcomes of Blue Note Distillery in Memphis and Leatherwood Distillery in Clarksville, continuing the Trail’s growth across communities throughout Tennessee. The Trail’s free digital passport encourages travelers to build their own itineraries, check in at participating locations and earn rewards along the way. The Tennessee Whiskey Trail website also features curated itineraries, including its Cork to Fork program, which pairs Trail stops with local restaurants offering spirit-infused menu items, along with recommendations for outdoor attractions, historic landmarks and cultural experiences.
