STUDIO TENN ANNOUNCES ITS 2018-2019 SEASON

 

 

13 March 2018 – Franklin, TN – Studio Tenn is gearing up for yet another year of original works, family classics, musical masterpieces and Broadway blockbusters with their all new 2018/2019 season. Celebrating its ninth season of theatre excellence, the Studio Tenn 18/19 season is sure to inspire audiences to be bold, be dynamic and be alive!
A season line-up unlike any other, the 2018-2019 titles and dates are as follows:
  • Frankenstein, August 31 – September 9; adaptation by A.S. Peterson
  • Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, December 7 – 30; Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman; Tim Rice, Book by Linda Woolverton
  • Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, February 8 – 17; by Tennessee William
  • The Frank Sinatra Legacy, March 14 – 17
  • Damn Yankees, May 17 – June 2; Words and Music by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross; Book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop.

Beginning its ninth season with an all new original production, Studio Tenn is celebrating the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s gothic novel, Frankenstein. Pushing the limits of science and morality in his search for love and purpose, Victor Frankenstein unleashes a creation that he cannot control. This new stage adaptation by A.S. Peterson (The Battle of Franklin) will leave audiences pondering their own sense of belonging long after the lights come up.

Just in time for the holiday season, Studio Tenn is captivating families with the “tale as old as time,” Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. You’ve seen it as an animated classic, you’ve loved it as a live-action film, now become wholly enchanted by Studio Tenn’s trademark eye-popping spin on this Disney treasure. Sure to be this seasons most magical outing, families will delight in the adventures of Belle and the Beast as they discover the true meaning of beauty.

Studio Tenn is proud to present Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning masterpiece, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The Politt family has never had an honest conversation, but now that everyone’s gathered under one roof vying for a massive Mississippi inheritance, each must confront a lifetime of secrets and lies to discover a moment of truth. Join Studio Tenn in the classic drama starring stage and screen star John Schuck as volatile patriarch Big Daddy. Don’t miss this exquisite play about finding your voice in a noise filled world.

The Studio Tenn Legacy Series brings its sixth edition of the renowned theatrical concert back to its hometown of Franklin, TN. Taking the stage at the historic Franklin Theater, The Frank Sinatra Legacyhonors the timeless talents of the Rat Pack legend, Frank Sinatra. An American singer, actor and producer who’s one of history’s most popular and influential artists of the 20th century, The Frank Sinatra Legacyfeatures hits such as “My Way,” “New York, New York,” and “Come Fly with Me” from Sinatra’s eclectic variety of best-selling music and medleys that are sure to take you back to the swooning sounds of Sinatra’s dreamy baritone.

Studio Tenn is taking you out to the ballgame as they adventure into this season’s finale and blockbuster musical, Damn Yankees. Just in time for spring training, this Tony Award winner for best musical, best performance, best choreography and more takes audiences out of the dugout and onto the field in a unique look as Joe Boyd struggles with his commitment to win against those “damn Yankees” or to those he loves the most. Featuring classical musical theatre selections such as “Shoeless Joe,” “You Gotta Have Heart,” and “Whatever Lola Wants,” follow Boyd on his quest to save his team, and his soul, before he strikes out. Play ball!

Performances in the 2018-2019 season will be held at Jamison Theater and the historic Franklin Theater. Ticket prices range from $35 – $90, with a 15% discount on any four show package and 20% discount on a five show package.
