Spring Cleaning

Sun Rooms are excellent places that provide peace and comfort in a home, but they can tend to become grungy and hard to keep up. With so much light shinning through, dust mites are more apparent, dirt tracked in on the floor is more visible, and unless those windows have just been cleaned, it is easy to see watermarks and streaks.

Here are some neat ways to spruce up your sun room and keep it pleasant and rid of that grungy feel.

Pop of Color– Put some fun color popping pillows on your love seats and chairs. They will divert wondering eyes from watermarks on the windows.

Fresh Flowers– Keep a vase or two filled with fresh cut flowers. The scent and appearance make any room feel fresh and clean.

Multipurpose Mats– Target, Wal-Mart, Kmart and all sorts of large stores sell mats at inexpensive rates. Buy a few mats and change out your floor mats every three to six months to avoid that worn out look. Darker or multicolor mats hide dirt the best.

Light curtains or sheers– These allow light to come through and do not block it out, but they also soften the windows. Don’t leave those windows naked…always have something to pull across them in the evening or early morning.

Clear the clutter– Recycle any magazines over a month old or any newspapers over a week old. Don’t let them sit and take roots in your sun room. The least amount of stuff on the floor is the best policy. Remember in a sun room, less is best.

Careful with your wall décor– Be careful not to put any special paintings or prints in your sun room. Direct light from the sun will age your paintings, and they will loose the richness of their color.

Musical mystery– Have a hidden c.d. player somewhere in the room. When entertaining or seeking solace for yourself, this is an excellent time to play a light cd like Norah Jones or Harry Connick Jr. and relax to some soothing tunes while the sun soaks your sun room.
