Seniors Activities in January

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department invites all area seniors to participate in a wide variety of ongoing senior programs at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. Senior programs are designed for residents age 55 and older (unless otherwise noted).  WCPRD is a public organization, here to benefit the community. No membership is required. Anyone can register for and participate in our classes –a facility pass is not required. Aquamotion – Arthritic/Post Rehab Water Class
Is the pain of everyday living getting you down? Then get up and join Heather Atkinson’s “Aquamotion” on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:15 a.m. to 9 a.m., January 1-29. This class provides an opportunity for people with arthritis and post-rehab conditions to improve flexibility, coordination and muscle strength. No registration required. Power Tools
Nancy Rieves, a certified personal trainer, leads this class designed to increase strength and flexibility for independent living. No registration required! Classes are held on ongoing Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, January 4-29  (skip 1/6 and 1/18) from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.  The fee is $3 per class paid at the front desk. Wear comfortable clothes! Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road, Franklin, Tennessee.
ZUMBA GOLD
Active older adults (age 55 and older) are invited to try the latest fitness craze in a new class called “Zumba Gold” on Wednesday, January 6, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Class includes 30 minutes of Zumba followed by 30 minutes of Yoga. This class will meet on the first Wednesday of each month. Zumba Gold is $3 and no registration is necessary for this drop-in class. Potluck and BINGO
Seniors are invited to bring a side dish or a dessert and enjoy this monthly potluck lunch. Meat and drinks will be provided. After lunch, participants will play a game of Bingo. January’s potluck will be on Monday, January 11, from noon to 2 p.m. Please note: due to potluck preparations, doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Registration is required between December 14 and January 10. Please remember to register. BOWLING
If you like to bowl, join the Williamson County Parks & Recreation Department’s seniors’ (age 55 and older) drop-in bowling league on Tuesdays, January 12-April 13 at 10 a.m. at the Franklin Family Entertainment Center, 1200 Lakeview Drive in Franklin. No registration is required. Cost is $1 a game payable to the bowling center.
