O’More College of Design’s Fashion Show

The O’More College of Design’s Fashion Show is coming to Nashville. On Thursday, May 12, 18 well-designed, well-made and beautiful student collections will debut on the runway at the annual O’More Fashion Show, held this year at Nashville’s John C. Tune Airport. The work represents the culmination of years of study. Styles range from Japanese draping with an apocalyptic edge to mod children’s knitwear, with colorful, androgynous clothing for men and women and minimalist fashion with an architectural influence in between.

Proceeds from the Fashion Show fund scholarships that provide O’More students with an exceptional education at a nationally ranked school that prepares them for a successful career after graduation. O’More students go on to great things:

Kat Seaton ’13-Designer, MILLY NYC

“Even with all of the great designers and brands out there today, I think there’s still a place for me. I have my own aesthetic that is different from anyone else. So ultimately, I want to have my own label. And I feel like O’More prepared me to do it.”

Courtney Button ’11-Stylist, The Daily Show NYC

“O’More was the only school I looked at and only one I applied to. I loved the smaller setting as opposed to being competitive so early on. For me, it felt like a better learning environment than moving to New York right away, but New York was always the end goal.”

Jessica Bornick ’06-Designer/Owner, Owlette-Columbia, South Carolina

“I feel like O’More really helped prepare me for what I’m doing now. I felt pushed to be creative as you finish a project, and really helped me to work really hard and establish a work ethic early on. But, O’More also helped me remember this: that was what we do is fun.”

The O’More Fashion Show draws 600 to 800 people who come to enjoy the work of the young designers who will go on to help power the Nashville fashion industry, the fourth largest and fastest growing industry in the United States.

The Fashion Show recognizes an honorary committee that includes Cristina Ottaviano (Cristina Ottaviano Fashion, NYC), Van Tucker (Nashville Fashion Alliance, Nashville), Amanda Valentine (Amanda Valentine, Nashville), Libby Callaway (The Callaway, Nashville), Dorene Pearson (fashion and interior designer, Nashville), Alizah Greenberg (Alizah Greenberg Jewelry, Nashville), and Liz Pape (CEO/Founder of Elizabeth Suzann, Nashville). A jury of industry professionals selects the top junior and senior collections to receive awards, including a one-year professional membership to the Nashville Fashion Alliance (NFA), technical and design services from Omega Apparel, Inc., and a fabric package sponsored by Olah, Inc.

The Fashion Show is designed by O’More alums, co-chairs Bobbi Hemmen (Assistant Manager and Wardrobe Stylist at Gus Mayer) and Elizabeth Onks (Junior Apparel Technical Designer, Tractor Supply Company) and committee members Brittany Bennett (Technical Designer, VF Imagewear), Adelynn Chapman (Owner & President, Helistar Aviation), Hannah Jones (Co-owner/Designer, Jamie and the Jones), Taylor Pellegrino (Stylist, Dress Theory), and Janice Williams (Independent designer and professor, Tennessee State University).
