Nolensville Police officer David Hazlett was awarded the Purple Star and the Distinguished Service Award Thursday, May 5, during a Nolensville Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting.
The Purple Heart was for injuries he sustained during a welfare check. Hazlett was presented with Distinguished Service Award, the department’s second highest award, for returning, after sustaining injuries from an attack, to assist officers in the apprehension of the suspect who stabbed him, said Nolensville Police Chief Todd Huffines.
On the morning of March 10, Hazlett and Huffines responded to a call about a man in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Two-Way Stop market at 7207 Nolensville Road.
