Just in time for cool weather and fall breezes, here is the perfect event for the entire family that won’t break the bank. New Hope Academy invites the whole community to Pinkerton Park on October 3, 2009 for its 3rd Annual Franklin Duck Race, when a flood of yellow bathtub ducks will race down the Harpeth River for big prizes.

Last year over 6,000 ducks competed, and several exceptional ducks swam faster and harder for their chance to win big! With as many as 10,000 ducks racing to the finish this year, the prizes are even bigger. Prizes include a Metropolitan Scooter, courtesy of Honda of Cool Springs, a romantic night away at Embassy Suites with dinner at Stoney River Grill, and gift cards from Cool Springs Galleria in $250 and $500 denominations.

The event, presented by 94 FM The Fish, along with several businesses in the community, will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at Pinkerton Park in Franklin from11:30 am til 2:00 pm. The actual Duck Race will take place on the Harpeth River at 12:30 pm and will last as long as it takes the ducks to paddle to the finish line at the pedestrian bridge. Members of the community can sponsor a duck by purchasing a single duck ticket for just $5 or a flock of five for $20. Tickets can be purchased online at www.franklinduckrace.com.

The Franklin Duck Race also features a free carnival, making it possible for everyone to join in the festivities. Individual elementary school grades will head up each activity booth, providing an exciting afternoon of fun and entertainment for school-age children.

This unique event benefits New Hope Academy, a Christ-centered community school with an economically, racially, and culturally diverse student body. Of the 220 students enrolled, nearly half are from low-income families and receive full scholarships. Single moms are the heads of household for a third of the children. The Duck Race is a great way for residents of Franklin and Williamson County to support our community’s children while enjoying a fun-filled afternoon, an exciting race, and great PRIZES!
