NASHVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY TO HOST SEVENTH ANNUAL PICNIC WITH THE LIBRARY ON SUNDAY, MAY 1ST
Mary Craven & Burney Dawkins and Johari & Lonnell Matthews will co-chair this family-friendly fundraiser
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville Public Library Foundation will host the seventh annual Picnic with the Library on Sunday, May 1st at the downtown Main Library. The family-friendly event raises key funds for Nashville Public Library’s award-winning children’s programming. This year’s co-chairs, Mary Craven & Burney Dawkins and Johari & Lonnell Matthews, selected a celebration of the late world-renowned children’s author Eric Carle as the theme to bring whimsy and bright colors into the event’s grand in- person return.
“We are elated to be coming together in-person this year for Picnic with the Library, an event that brings the best the Library has to offer to children all in one afternoon,” said Shawn Bakker, president of the Nashville Public Library Foundation. “We cannot wait for families to celebrate back at Main and to continue to support the Library’s incredible children’s programs that make such a tremendous difference for thousands of children and young people in our community.”
This year’s event will include a delicious picnic supper catered by Chef’s Market, cocktails, special performances of Wishing Chair Productions’ “Cinderella”, live music, story time, face painting, balloon art, a photo booth, and crafts. Ticket packages to the event start at $250, which includes admission for two adults and up to four children, access to all activities, food, and beverages. Proceeds from all ticket sales will directly benefit Nashville Public Library.
The event also features the exclusive chance to win a performance from the Library’s beloved Puppet Truck. Often seen across the city at public events and libraries, the Puppet Truck shares the magic of puppets with children of all ages across the city. By purchasing a raffle ticket, participants will have the chance to win a private show from the truck at the event of their choosing.
