September 13–19 highlights the opportunities, connections and support found in assisted living

Every person has a story worth celebrating, and National Assisted Living Week offers an opportunity to recognize the experiences, accomplishments and individuality that continue to shape older adults throughout every chapter of life.

From September 13–19, 2026, Morning Pointe Senior Living communities across the Southeast will celebrate National Assisted Living Week with the theme “Shining Through the Years.” Throughout the special week, communities will host themed activities and experiences designed to celebrate residents, encourage connection and showcase the many ways assisted living can enrich daily life.

While National Assisted Living Week is a time to celebrate, it is also an opportunity to raise awareness about what assisted living can offer older adults and their families.

“Assisted living is about providing the right balance of support and independence so older adults can continue to live meaningful, active and connected lives,” said Greg A. Vital, co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “Our residents bring decades of experiences, accomplishments, relationships and wisdom with them, and we want to create an environment where they can continue to share those gifts while receiving the support they need.”

For families beginning to consider senior living, understanding what assisted living looks like day to day can help make an important decision feel less overwhelming. Assisted living can provide support with daily needs while also creating opportunities for residents to participate in activities, build relationships, enjoy meals together, stay active and remain connected to the people and interests that matter most to them.

“At Morning Pointe, we believe every resident should have opportunities to shine in their own way,” said Amanda Yelenick, Vice President of Life Enrichment for Morning Pointe Senior Living. “Our life enrichment programs are designed around the people who call our communities home. National Assisted Living Week allows us to celebrate their individuality, their talents, their stories and all of the moments that make each day meaningful.”

The week’s activities will look different from community to community, reflecting the interests and personalities of the residents who live there. From special programs and creative activities to opportunities for fellowship with families, friends and community partners, Morning Pointe communities will celebrate the many ways residents continue to grow, contribute and connect.

Families and community members are encouraged to check with their local Morning Pointe to find out about all the fun activities planned throughout this special National Assisted Living Week. These celebrations also provide an opportunity for those who are curious about assisted living to visit a community, meet the people who live and work there, and learn more about what senior living can look like for themselves or a loved one.
