Leadership Franklin awarded two $1,500 college scholarships

Leadership Franklin awarded two $1,500 college scholarships to local students at the April 11th Graduation Dinner for the Class of 2012-2013. Kelsey Brouwer and Madison O’Shields, both of Franklin, were selected to be the 2013 Scholarship recipients. Winning recipients are selected based on a combination of scholarship application points, community involvement, and quality of a written essay.

Brouwer is a 2012 graduate of Centennial High School and currently attends Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro where she is majoring in Business Administration and plays soccer.

O’Shields is slated to graduate from Ravenwood High School in Brentwood next month and will be attending the University of Texas – Austin. O’Shields serves on the Student Council, works with the United Way, and has served at Odyssey in Nashville working with the homeless.

About Leadership Franklin
Leadership Franklin is a non-profit community leadership organization dedicated to educating, informing, and empowering leaders to improve the quality of life in Franklin and Williamson County. Leadership Franklin is funded primarily by business, individual, and alumni contributions. Approximately 20 participants are chosen each year based on commitment to the Williamson County community, previous participation in community, civic, or professional organizations, and demonstrated leadership in current or previous positions.
