J.E.A.P.’s Hit the Harpeth

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation’s “J.E.A.P.s” program for kids ages 12 to 15 will canoe the Harpeth River on Saturday, September 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. These “Junior Excursion Adventure Programs” give nature-loving kids a way to embrace new athletic experiences under the expert guidance and safety of Parks and Recreation staffer Trisha Bilbrey. This fall excursion launches from the Franklin Recreation Complex where the group will make a 45-minute trek by van to “Foggy Bottom Canoe Rentals” along the Harpeth River. After a day of paddling, the group will break for a picnic lunch. Don’t forget to bring your packed lunch for this trip! Cost is $20.00 per person. Register early!

Parents, be sure your child is wearing sunscreen on all exposed skin areas. Required attire for the trip is a swimsuit, tennis shoes and comfortable paddling clothes. Be sure to bring a towel and an extra change of clothing. Set up an appointment for registration (required) by calling Trisha Bilbrey at 790-5719, ext. 44. Payment is required at registration because space is limited.

The Franklin Recreation Complex is located at 1120 Hillsboro Road in Franklin.
