Indoor Soccer Arena to be Renovated
The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce a major renovation of its Williamson County Indoor Soccer Arena on Downs Boulevard in Franklin. Phyllis Huffman, Planning Administrator for Williamson County Parks & Recreation, will oversee the project. “This renovation project will completely update the facility with better views of play, new turf, new netting and new indirect lighting,” said Huffman. “I am particularly pleased that new glass dasher boards will be installed, providing unobstructed views of the entire field,” Huffman continued. “All the lighting will be new and state-of-the-art. FieldTurf will replace the current playing-field surface. FieldTurf is a patented synthetic turf. Because it plays and feels like grass, FieldTurf players do not experience the accelerated fatique and muscle/joint stress associated with other synthetic systems.”
The 11-year-old Williamson County Indoor Soccer Arena is the home of both youth and adult indoor soccer leagues, open play and indoor flag football leagues. “No league play will be affected by the renovation since we will be doing all the work during a time when leagues are not in session,” added Huffman. The facility will be closed during the renovation project, May 4th through July 6th.
Other planned improvements include updated paint throughout the facility and a new bleacher arrangement will allow for better visibility. Additionally, installation of an on-site outdoor storage building for supplies and equipment will free up floor space inside the arena building.
