Dickens of a Christmas transforms historic downtown Franklin into a Victorian-inspired holiday village filled with costumed characters, carolers, musicians, dancers, artisan vendors, and seasonal entertainment. Main Street and the surrounding blocks take on the atmosphere of a Charles Dickens story as familiar figures from A Christmas Carol and other Charles Dickens stories mingle with festivalgoers.
Throughout the event, visitors may encounter Ebenezer Scrooge, Tiny Tim, Jacob Marley, Victorian townspeople, and other characters inspired by Dickens’ novels. Father and Mother Christmas also make appearances, while roaming performers and live entertainment add music, storytelling, and theatrical moments throughout the festival area.
An artisan marketplace offers handmade gifts, artwork, jewelry, home décor, seasonal items, and specialty foods. Children’s activities, holiday treats, and interactive experiences give families plenty to explore, while downtown shops and restaurants remain open for additional shopping and dining.
The historic streets, decorated storefronts, period costumes, and Christmas music create an immersive setting that has made Dickens of a Christmas a signature Franklin holiday tradition.
