Two local nonprofits are teaming up to celebrate National Thrift Day with a collaborative campaign that encourages the community to shop secondhand, support local families, and reduce waste.

On Saturday, August 15, shoppers are invited to visit both GraceWorks Ministries Thrift Store and The Habitat ReStore of Williamson County during regular business hours. At each location, customers can pick up a National Thrift Day punch card and receive a punch after making a visit. Once both locations have been visited, participants can turn in their completed punch card at either store to be entered into a drawing. On National Thrift Day, Monday, August 17, three winners will be selected to receive shopping certificates to both stores.

While the campaign offers a fun incentive, its greater purpose is to celebrate the impact thrift shopping has on the community.

Every purchase made at the GraceWorks Thrift Store helps provide food, financial assistance, and life-changing support to neighbors experiencing hardship. At The ReStore, proceeds help build and repair affordable homes for local families, making homeownership more attainable throughout Williamson and Maury counties.

“Thrifting is about so much more than finding a great deal,” shared Habitat CEO, Kim Randell, “Every purchase helps strengthen our community by supporting local families while giving donated items a second life. We’re excited to partner with GraceWorks to celebrate the incredible impact our shoppers make every day.”

In addition to supporting two nonprofit missions, shopping secondhand helps keep usable furniture, home improvement materials, clothing, and household goods out of landfills, making thrift shopping an easy way for community members to make a positive environmental impact.

“This partnership is a reminder that when local nonprofits work together, everyone benefits,” said GraceWorks CEO Alicia Bell. “Whether you’re shopping for a unique find or simply looking for a way to give back, every purchase helps a neighbor in need right here in Middle Tennessee.”

Community members are encouraged to spend the day exploring both stores, discovering hidden treasures, and supporting organizations that are working together to build stronger, more resilient communities.
