Gift of Music

Employees at local business APCOM recently took up a collection to purchase BrightStone a keyboard, stand, amplifier and microphone for use by the BrightStone Choir.

The BrightStone Choir, under the instruction of volunteer Music Director Judy Fincannon, practices twice a week and performs at local churches, civic groups, and organizations. “We have had to limit our performances in the past because many organizations do not have a piano to accompany our students”, shared BrightStone’s Executive Director, Brenda Hauk. “Our generous neighbors at APCOM found out that we needed a keyboard and stepped up to the plate to help! Because of their generosity, we now have equipment that gives us the mobility to perform for any local groups that want to hear our adults sing.”

APCOM is no stranger to giving. At Thanksgiving time last year, the company donated over 60 turkeys for BrightStone family members and staff, and earlier in 2010 they donated logo- embroidered polo shirts for each student and staff member to wear to community events. APCOM employees have also shown their support for BrightStone by forming teams to compete and raise funds in BrightStone’s BOWLABILITY bowling benefit. What great corporate neighbors!

BrightStone is a resource in the community providing job training and employment opportunities for adults who are developmentally disabled.
