Fox & Locke Honors Muscle Shoals Music with Royal Flush
Decks Out and Dedicates Restroom to The Hit Recording Capital of the World
Leiper’s Fork, Tenn. (April 17, 2026) Fox & Locke, one of the most popular smalltown music venues in Tennessee, is celebrating music in the loo by dedicating a restroom to Muscle Shoals Music. The Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards, who famously finalized the lyrics to ‘Wild Horses’ in the bathroom at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, is the inspiration for the idea.
“I guess we can give Keith and The Stones credit for this creative use of space,” Aubrey Preston, proprietor said. “This is our tribute to those of vision and talent who created the Muscle Shoals Music legacy. We’re fortunate to work with The Shoals and have them as friends of our community.”
Today’s official ribbon cutting, appropriately a giant roll of TP, was led by Preston. Debbie Wilson, executive director, Muscle Shoals Sound Studio and Maureen Thornton, president & CEO, Visit Franklin, brought additional remarks. Will McFarlane, guitarist with the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section who played on records for Etta James, Bobby Blue Bland and many more, performed a couple of songs and was called upon to provide the ceremonial royal flush.
“We feel so much synergy between Muscle Shoals and Leiper’s Fork,” Wilson said. “It’s all about the music, but also about friendship. Aubrey and Michele Preston are great friends of ours and our entire community. These are the kind of ideas that make life fun. It’s great to celebrate together, even if it’s a tongue and cheek nod to Keith Richards and the loo.”
Special thanks to local resident Silas Jones who designed and executed the restroom gallery of hitmakers from Muscle Shoals. This extraordinary tribute to “toilet troubadours” is now open and definitely worth a trip to Leiper’s Fork.
Come see a show and visit the loo at Fox & Locke.
