DICK’S House of Sport is coming to CoolSprings Galleria in Franklin, bringing the sporting goods retailer’s larger, experience-focused concept to Williamson County.

Expected to open in early 2028, the new store will occupy more than 100,000 square feet in the space currently occupied by JCPenney. JCPenney is expected to close in fall 2026 following the expiration of its lease.

The Franklin location will be the first DICK’S House of Sport in the greater Nashville area.

What Is DICK’S House of Sport?

DICK’S House of Sport is a larger version of a traditional DICK’S Sporting Goods store that combines shopping with spaces where customers can try equipment, practice sports and participate in activities.

Plans for the CoolSprings Galleria location include a climbing wall, multiple golf bays equipped with TrackMan simulators and a HitTrax multi-sport cage for baseball, softball and soccer.

DICK’S currently operates a traditional sporting goods store nearby at Cool Springs Market on Mallory Lane. No changes to that location have been announced.

CoolSprings Galleria Continues to Grow

The DICK’S House of Sport project is one of several recent additions and developments at CoolSprings Galleria. L.L.Bean opened its first Tennessee store at the mall in July, while Primark opened its only Nashville-area location there in late 2025.

Changes are also taking place outside the mall itself. CBL Properties sold a 5.35-acre parcel at the northeast corner of the Galleria to Greystar for a new residential development. Plans call for 361 apartments and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and service space.

The development will replace part of the property previously used for parking, adding residential space to a mall campus that has traditionally been centered on shopping and restaurants. Together with new retailers such as DICK’S House of Sport, L.L.Bean and Primark, the project reflects the continued growth and evolution of CoolSprings Galleria.
