The Nashville Public Library Main Library is located at 615 Church Street in downtown Nashville. The 300,000-square-foot building opened in 2001 and serves as the central location of the Nashville Public Library system. In addition to its book and research collections, the Main Library includes public computers, study and meeting rooms, an art gallery, the Civil Rights Room, Metro Archives, Special Collections, a courtyard, a puppet theater, and spaces for programs and events.
The library is near War Memorial Plaza, a historic civic and memorial space beside the War Memorial Building and across from the Tennessee State Capitol.
