Stones River National Cemetery is a historic national cemetery within Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro. Established after the Civil War, it became the final resting place for more than 6,100 Union soldiers, including many who died during the Battle of Stones River and in the surrounding area. Nearly 1,000 veterans and some family members from later conflicts are also buried there. The cemetery includes historic monuments and remains an important place of remembrance, military history, and interpretation.
