BrightStone’s Christmas Reception
A record breaking crowd of nearly 450 guests recently filled Jamison Hall in the Factory at Franklin to share the holiday spirit and attend BrightStone’s annual Christmas Reception. On Thursday evening, December 8th, BrightStone adults sang, danced and played chimes to the delight of the audience as they shared their musical accomplishments in what BrightStone terms “Our Gift to the Community”.
The theme for this year’s program was “Santa Claus is Back in Town” and featured a variety of upbeat Santa themed songs, all performed by BrightStone adults who live each day with developmental disabilities. A couple of highlights from the evening included Miss Kelly Morgan singing “Santa Baby” to Santa Claus (a.k.a. Billy Lovett) and Mr. Philip Robichaux led “I Wish I Could Be Santa Claus”.
The program was produced and directed by volunteer music director Judy Fincannon. Mrs. Fincannon directs music class at BrightStone at least twice a week throughout the year and more frequently as the holidays approach. “Donors, friends, volunteers, and families look forward to this event each year!” commented Brenda Hauk, Executive Director for BrightStone. “Many have told us that it is the highlight of their Christmas season each year!”
Several community partners helped make this free public event possible, including Charlie Irwin Painting, The Factory at Franklin, Full Service Insurance, Jo West of Jo’s Cakes and Catering, and Shuff’s Music and Piano Showroom.
