Students at BBMA Spring Hill, Veterans Parkway and Franklin hosted lemonade stands to support Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation
Through student-led lemonade stands, Middle Tennessee’s Big Blue Marble Academy (BBMA) students have raised $1183 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to support the organization’s research and programs for children fighting cancer.
The young learners at BBMA lead each aspect of the community service project, from promotion and preparation to making and pouring lemonade. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is just one of BBMA’s service learning initiatives, called Heart Projects, teaching students collaboration and responsibility, as well as how their efforts can have an impact on their community.
“Early childhood education goes far beyond learning to read and count, which is why BBMA prioritizes empathy, confidence, and a sense of global citizenship that will serve them well beyond the classroom,” said Erin Pastushok, Senior Director of Education for BBMA. “Through each of our Heart Projects, like Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, our hope is that our students learn to care for one another and create a better world as they grow.”
In total, BBMA locations across the country raised a total of $52,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
