Bennett retires from sheriff’s department after 34 years

From Reserve Deputy to the head of Criminal Investigation, Capt. Fred Bennett retired this week after more than 34 years in a job he referred to as a calling. His send-off party was aptly held in the building in which he started his career – the Old, Old Jail on Bridge Street.

“The number of people here shows how much Fred is loved in the community for all he’s done,” Sheriff Jeff Long said as he presented Bennett with a plaque, recognizing his 32 years of service with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office during the retirement party.
