ANIMAL CENTER OFFERS DISCOUNTED ADOPTION FEES FOR CLEAR THE SHELTERS

Thanks to support from Friends of Williamson County Animal Center, 100 adopters will receive $25 off their fees at Williamson County Animal Center (WCAC) through August. Approved applicants can welcome a kitten, adult cat or adult dog into their home for $25 each and $60 per puppy. Adoption fee discounts are part of the month-long Clear The Shelters campaign sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition and NBC & Telemundo Stations.

Since its 2015 inception, NBCUniversal Local’s Clear The Shelters has helped more than 860,000 pets find new homes. The 2022 campaign established a new single-year record with more than 161,000 adoptions, while also raising more than $540,000. Nearly 1,400 animal shelters and rescues covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam participated in last year’s campaign.

“Hill’s Pet Nutrition is proud to return for the sixth consecutive year as the lead national sponsor of Clear The Shelters because we believe that shelter pets deserve a second chance to find love,” said Joann Fuller, Lead for Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love program in the US. “There are millions of pets in shelters that would make wonderful additions to your family. If adoption is not an option for you right now, we hope you consider the opportunity to volunteer, foster or donate in support of your local shelter.”

Don’t let her age fool you, 13-year old Leeloo has not lost her zest for life.  The ideal home for her is one with adults only and she is housetrained.  Leeloo is exhibiting signs of vision loss and arthritis, but She still loves to explore on walks.  Stop by to meet Leeloo and her furry friends at WCAC!

A Hill’s representative will be at WCAC on Saturday, August 26 to distribute adoption kits that help new pet parents and their pets get a healthy start on their new life together. The kits include starter bags of Hill’s science-led nutrition, coupons, pet-parenting tips and other supplies. In addition, shelter visitors will have the opportunity to learn about local, pet-related services – such as veterinarian care, at-home pet care and pet portraits – from vendors who will be onsite.

“Each year, Clear The Shelters gives us a national platform to raise awareness about the benefits of and encourage pet adoptions,” said WCAC Assistant Director, Scott Pieper. “This is especially important this year because intakes have significantly outpaced adoptions. We have many wonderful animals here that are looking for their forever families and are very grateful for the additional exposure.”

WCAC is also hosting its monthly rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, August 26. From 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., pet parents can bring their cats and dogs to the shelter to receive a rabies vaccination for $10 each and a microchip for $15. Located at 1006 Grigsby Hayes Court in Franklin, WCAC is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The shelter closes to the public on Sundays.

About Clear The Shelters

Clear The SheltersTM / Desocupar Los Albergues® is an annual, nationwide pet adoption campaign that is spearheaded by NBCUniversal Local, a division of NBCUniversal. Every year, NBCUniversal Local’s NBC and Telemundo owned stations and affiliated stations partner with animal shelters and rescues in their communities to promote pet adoption and raise funds. NBCUniversal Local’s Clear The Shelters campaign was inspired by a 2014 North Texas pet adoption event hosted by NBC 5 / KXAS and Telemundo 39 / KXTX and dozens of area shelters that resulted in the most adopted pets in one day for North Texas. Since 2015, Clear The Shelters pet adoption campaign has resulted in more than 860,000 pet adoptions. Visit ClearTheShelters.com and DesocuparLosAlbergues.com for more information.
