The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) is proud to announce the addition of All-Terrain Wheelchairs (ATW) at Peacock Hill Nature Park, 6990 Giles Hill Road in College Grove.

Noting the availability and use of All-Terrain Wheelchairs in several Tennessee State Parks, WCPR staff set out to see how such devices could be incorporated into the department’s nature parks to allow those with limited mobility the opportunity to explore the beauty of nature with outdoor recreation access, while ensuring user safety and resource protection.

Through a combination of donations and grants, two ATWs have been procured and are available for public use. Gordon Hampton, Williamson County Parks and Recreation Director, praised the efforts of others saying, “We’d like to thank the private donor and civic organizations that answered the call for inclusivity for everyone to have access to our wonderful nature parks.” Our sincerest thanks to the following for their generosity and kindness:

Pamela Lewis

J.L. Clay Senior Citizen Center

Franklin Breakfast Rotary Club

Franklin Noon Rotary Club Grant in partnership with the Library Foundation of Williamson County

Rotary Club of Brentwood

All-Terrain Wheelchairs (ATW) in College Grove, TN at Peacock Hill Nature Park 2.

WCPR Nature Parks and Trails Coordinator, Michael Culbreth said, “This is going to be a game changer for Peacock Hill, and eventually all our nature parks. There are multiple groups of people who, until now, have not been able to come out and enjoy these special places. Making natural spaces accessible to as many people as possible is our primary goal.”

All-terrain wheelchair use is free of charge; and reservations are encouraged. Information on the department’s All-Terrain Wheelchair Policy and reservation process can we found at www.wcparksandrec.com.
