Gray’s on Main is preparing to open The Buffalo Room, a new private VIP club on the third floor of its historic downtown Franklin restaurant and live music venue.
Expected to open later in 2026, The Buffalo Room will add a new private space for guests attending live performances and special occasions. Gray’s has not yet announced a specific opening date.
What to Expect at The Buffalo Room
The Buffalo Room will give guests a separate space on the third floor while still providing a direct view of performances taking place below. Gray’s says there will be a private balcony overlooking the stage, creating another way to experience the venue’s live music away from the main music hall.
The third floor will also have its own bar. Gray’s describes the room as quiet enough for conversation during a performance and says its brick walls help absorb sound.
Gray’s on Main is positioning The Buffalo Room for occasions including birthdays, anniversaries and nights out. The venue is already taking inquiries from guests who have a future date or group in mind. Details about Buffalo Room pricing and capacity have not been announced.
The third floor has previously been used as a private space at Gray’s, including for supper club members. Today, Gray’s also hosts private events throughout the building, including rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, fundraisers, listening parties, private brunches and receptions.

Part of a New Chapter at Gray’s on Main
The Buffalo Room is one of several changes underway at Gray’s following a change in ownership earlier this year.
Johnny Weber acquired Gray’s on Main in 2026 and has said maintaining the Gray’s name, historic neon sign, and connection to the building’s history is important to him. Gray’s says Weber is working to develop the restaurant further as a “world-class live music venue,” with extensive sound renovations underway and The Buffalo Room planned as part of that effort.
The second floor remains the center of Gray’s live music programming, with a stage and regularly scheduled performances. The restaurant also offers dining and a full bar.
About Gray’s on Main
Gray’s on Main is located at 332 Main Street in downtown Franklin in a building dating to 1876. The property was home to a pharmacy for much of its early history and later became Gray Drug Company, operated by Franklin pharmacist Frank Gray and his family.
Michael and Joni Cole restored the building before opening Gray’s on Main in 2013, preserving features including the tin ceilings, heart-pine floors, and historic pharmacy artifacts found inside the building. The well-known Gray’s neon sign was also restored and relit when the restaurant opened.
