Franklin Special District Receives Bonus Funding for Academic Excellence
Franklin, TN — Franklin Special District has been awarded an additional $392,857 in state funding after Tennessee approved supplemental funding for its High Performing LEA Bonus program, bringing the district’s total performance bonus for the year to $1 million.
The district previously received an initial payment of approximately $607,142 earlier this year after qualifying for the bonus program. State officials recently notified FSD that additional funding had been approved to fully fund all qualifying districts.
The bonus was made possible by the exceptional academic performance of FSD schools. More than half the district’s schools earned an “A” rating through Tennessee’s accountability system, placing the Franklin Special District among just 22 districts statewide to qualify for the incentive. “This additional funding is great news for our district and a testament to the incredible work happening in our schools every day,” said Dr. David Snowden, FSD Director of Schools.
FSD is reinvesting the funding into its general purpose budget, helping reduce pressure on local taxpayers and strengthening the district’s financial position while continuing to support the high-quality educational programs and services families expect. “While we are grateful for the additional funding, we are more proud of what it represents: a district-wide commitment to strong instruction, student success, and strong support,” Snowden said. “This award is something our entire community can celebrate.”
Franklin Special District is a state-designated Exemplary District educating prekindergarten through eighth-grade students across eight schools in the heart of historic Franklin, Tennessee.
