Fun for All Ages in Upcoming Classes at the Franklin Recreation Complex

The Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd., Franklin, TN, offers activities for all ages including classes for adults and kids.  Try the new Amazing Athletes program for ages 2.5 to 6, starting March 6 or the Space Club for kids ages 5 to 12.

 

Amazing Athletes

Amazing Athletes is the premier year-round physical fitness program empowering children ages 2.5-6 years old to reach developmental milestones at an individual pace.  Through structured play, Amazing Athletes teaches children motor skills, 9 different sports, starter nutrition and body awareness. This ongoing program will meet March 6-27 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. To register, go to www.wcparksandrec.com (#11186), $48 per child.

 

Space Club with Mr. Bond’s Science Guys

Learn about rockets, propulsion, shuttles, gravity, orbits and interstellar bodies while building and launching space crafts!   Class meets 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesdays, March 6-April 3 (skip 3/27) at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd., Franklin. Color Wheels-Homeschool Art Class

Each week, students in this ongoing art class will explore art history, techniques, styles and artists from the past and present. A variety of media will be used to create rich experiences for each child.  Instructor: Shelly Egly. Color Wheels for homeschoolers meets Fridays, March 2-23 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. For ages 5-11.  The fee is $56 for the four–class session. Sticky Fingers Preschool Art Club

Enhance and celebrate your preschooler’s creativity by enrolling them in the Sticky Fingers Preschool Art Club at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Ms. Shelley offers educational art experiences geared to young children (ages 3 to 6, potty-trained), with 2 to 3 works of art completed in each class. Choose Fridays, March 2-23 ($48 for 4 classes, #11311) or Mondays, March 5-19 ($36 for 3 classes, #11308). Both classes are from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Register on line at www.wcparksandrec.com.

 

Polite Kids 101

This basic manners class teaches students ages 7-10 years old to stay on track with kind and respectful living. Topics include introducing yourself, setting a table, being a polite guest and party manners. Includes a light lunch. Harmony at Home

Moms-Do you want to experience more peace, harmony, joy and possibility in your home? This class for moms will teach you how to create your own peaceful harmony at home. Learn how to instill values and boundaries while creating character in your children. Harmony at Home meets Tuesdays, March 6-27 (skip 3/20) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Color Wheels-After School Art

Join the fun as students explore art history, techniques, styles, and famous artists from past to present.  This class is for kids 5 to 11 years, and meets Wednesdays, March 7-21 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The fee is $43. Go for the Gut Health

Got gut issues? 75% of Americans do! Gut health is directly linked to what you eat. Learn how to get your gut healthy in this nutrition class. Holistic Health Counselor Paula Antonini teaches students how to make better food choices for gut health as well as the benefits of using natural products. Go for the Gut Health meets Tuesdays, March 20 and 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. To register go to www.wcparksandrec.com, activity #11789. Tai Chi

Tap into your body’s energy and reduce stress. Learn the ancient art of Tai Chi (Yang Style 24 Form), Tuesdays, March 13-May 1 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Piano

Private piano lessons are offered on Fridays in 30-minute time slots. Learn note reading skills, music theory and artistic technique.  For ages 4 through adults. Contact instructor James Weinberg to set up lesson times: 615-268-2296. Meet at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd.

 

Mommy & Me Movement

Bring the kids, ages 0-4 months for a fun and energetic 30-minute movement class. Moms and kids will dance, sing, bond and make memories. Dads, grandparents and caregivers are welcome.  Mommy & Me Movement meets on Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. (Skip 3/19 and 3/26). General admission fees apply. (Class is free to all premium family pass holders.)

 

Super Hero Camp with Mr. Bond’s Science Guys-Spring Break

Explore the science of super heroes and villains in this five-day camp, March 26-30 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Learn about the science of magnetic power, web throwing, laser eyes and ice powers. Dress up as your favorite super hero for class! Meets 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For ages 5 to 12. Advance registration required at www.wcparksandrec.com, activity #10972 ($160 per child, plus $20 supply fee payable to instructor). 

 

 

Nature Camp with Mr. Bond’s Science Guys-Spring Break

Let’s explore nature and learn about biomes, animals and the earth using the Giant Dymaxion Map, scavenger hunts and more.  Camp meets 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., March 26-30 at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Color Wheels-Spring Break Art Workshop

While school is out, enjoy your staycation in our art studio! This class is for kids 5 to 11 years, and meets Wednesday and Thursday, March 28-29 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The fee is $60. Painting with Yara Stagner

Are you interested in finding your inner painter? Join the fun in this introductory class to oil and acrylic painting techniques. The class is offered on an ongoing basis on Mondays.
