YEAH! ANNOUNCES READY TO ROCK CAMP, JULY 6-10, 2020

Music-focused camp for 5-10 year olds embraces online format due to pandemic

NASHVILLE, TN – June 4, 2020 — Ready to Rock, an instructional music camp presented by Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities (YEAH!) for youth ages 5-10, will take place July 6-10, 2020, in an online format. YEAH! launched the unique program in 2019 to give young musicians of all experience levels hands-on time with instruments. The camp temporarily shifts to a virtual platform for 2020, offering kids in Middle Tennessee and beyond an entertaining way to gather and learn amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We recently added our innovative Ready to Rock camp to YEAH!’s programming in direct response to community feedback,” said Sarah Bandy, executive director of YEAH!. “For 17 years, YEAH! has hosted proven empowerment programs for teens and preteens—most notably the Southern Girls and Tennessee Teens Rock Camps—and it has been exciting to offer a modified version of those experiences to younger children who typically don’t have a lot of options for group music instruction.”

The weeklong camp will include instrument lessons, art-making with a kit specifically designed for daily projects, group music-making activities, and dance breaks. Camp will occur via the Webex video conferencing platform, chosen for its security and capacity for hosting groups.

Registration for Ready to Rock—as well as YEAH!’s FreqOut Virtual Music Camp (July 6-10, 2020) for teens and preteens of all skill levels—is now open at yeahrocks.org. Scholarships are available for those unable to attend due to financial barriers. Campers without access to an instrument may borrow one for the weeklong session using no-contact checkout from YEAH!’s Gear Lending Library.

Youth Empowerment through Arts and Humanities, Inc. (YEAH!) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable youth arts organization in Nashville, Tennessee. Its mission is to provide a safe learning environment for teens that will empower them not only in the arts but in life skills, volunteerism, and community service. YEAH! creates programming that values collaboration over competition and seeks to give youth the tools they need to create the world that they want to live in.
