Brentwood Baptist Church Hires Maury County Schools’ Assistant Superintendent

Brentwood, TN – September 26, 2019 – Following a national search that began in early 2019, the Trustees of Brentwood Baptist Church have announced that Stan Breeden, Assistant Superintendent of Operations for Maury County Schools, has accepted the call to be the church’s Senior Executive Pastor.

Stan and his wife, Debbie, have been active members of Brentwood Baptist Church, attending at the Spring Hill campus (The Church at Station Hill). Prior to his six years at Maury County Schools (MCS), Breeden served as Executive Pastor at two Tennessee churches, including First Baptist Church of Columbia. His earlier career included 20 years with Farm Bureau of Tennessee. Stan graduated from the University of Tennessee and has a seminary degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

Speaking about his time with Maury County Schools, Breeden said, “It has been a real honor to serve along with these people and have an opportunity to be an influence to them. The great relationships with our coworkers and elected leaders is what we will remember most.” He cites the construction of three new schools, improvement in safety practices, and technological advances as contributions during his six-year tenure with MCS.

Brentwood Baptist’s Senior Pastor, Mike Glenn, said, “Several years ago, we decided it was best if I stuck to preaching, teaching, and working with leaders and leave it to someone else to do everything else.” This is reference to the church’s governance model that defines the roles of Senior Pastor and Senior Executive Pastor. In this role, Breeden will be responsible for overseeing the ministry and operations of the church by supervising the staff of a few hundred employees and coordinating the ministries of all eight locations of the church. Church membership is currently just over 12,000.

Breeden adds, “Maury County Schools gave me an executive role in a large organization. Day to day operations required a significant commitment but provided a lot of experience in handling many diverse situations. It is a blessing to be able to transfer this experience to a role in the church and its mission.” He also said, “[Brentwood Baptist] is a church actively meeting people where they are, which is demonstrated by the eight campuses located in three different counties in Middle Tennessee. We are excited to be a part of this vibrant ministry and the dedicated staff and lay members who are faithful to this effort.”

Breeden’s first day with Brentwood Baptist Church is Sunday, September 29.

In 2016, the fifth regional campus, The Church at Lockeland Springs, was added. The Church at Nolensville and The Church at Harpeth Heights became regional campuses in 2018. Currently, there are 12,000 members of the church across all eight of its campuses.

Every campus shares the same DNA through a common mission, vision, and message. However, each campus has the flexibility to contextualize ministry to its unique community under the leadership of its own campus pastor
