Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia with Dr. David T. Hutchings

[FRANKLIN, TN, April 17, 2023] The Williamson County Public Library and the Alzheimer’s Association Tennessee Chapter kick off their Alzheimer’s and Dementia series with “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” presented by geriatric neuropathology and dementias expert Dr. David T. Hutchings. The program will be on Tuesday, April 25, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Library’s Meeting Room.

Alzheimer’s is not normal aging. It is a disease of the brain that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Learn about the impact of Alzheimer’s; the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia; Alzheimer’s disease stages and risk factors; and current research and treatments available to address some symptoms.

Dr. Hutchings works for Bluesky House Calls, PLLC and founded Dementia and Alzheimer’s Care, PLLC, a private firm focused on the evaluation, treatment and clinical education of all forms of dementia. Dr. Hutchings graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi, with a master’s degree from the University of Central Missouri, and completed his doctorate from Nova Southeastern University with a specialization in geriatric neuropathology.

He has conducted multiple national lectures in geriatrics and dementia. For nearly two decades his clinical practice and research has led to multiple keynote lectures at state and national organizations as well as other venues including Duke University, Vanderbilt University, Northwestern, Auburn University, and the University of Alabama Birmingham among many others. He also has participated in multiple panel discussions in the areas of geriatrics, clinical outcomes, dementia, and neuropathology.

As a nationally recognized lecturer, he has conducted multiple keynote lectures and in 2013 he developed clinical education articles on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) for the CNN network. Dr. Hutchings has been published in clinical publications and peer-reviewed journals.

The Alzheimer’s and Dementia programs are on the fourth Tuesday, April through September, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Williamson County Public Library in the Meeting Room on the first floor.
