Nation’s largest nonprofit awards ceremony to take place Oct. 20 at Belmont University’s Fisher Center

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) is proud to announce details for the 2022 Salute to Excellence presented by PNC Bank. Now in its 29th year, the nation’s largest nonprofit awards ceremony will take place Thurs., Oct. 20, at Belmont University’s Fisher Center with a brand-new format to further elevate the celebration of Nashville’s nonprofit community heroes. Nathan Green, vice chancellor for government and community relations at Vanderbilt University, and Terry Vo, external affairs manager at Comcast, will chair the event.

“Nonprofit organizations serve our community in many ways with essential programs and services,” said Tari Hughes, president and CEO of CNM. “While the last two years have been hard on everyone, nonprofits continued to overcome daily barriers and challenges to create solutions for crucial social issues, letting their actions speak louder than their words. There is no group more deserving of celebration than those who have been on the front lines of complex issues facing our community. We are honored to recognize their resilience and spotlight their impact throughout Middle Tennessee through our 2022 Salute to Excellence.”

The event will kick off at 5 p.m. with a reception, followed by an awards ceremony hosted by News Channel 5 anchor Rhori Johnston at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the recognition of award winners, various nonprofits will showcase their creative talents throughout the evening in moments that will surprise and delight attendees.

This year’s finalists for Salute to Excellence’s 12 prestigious awards represent 34 deserving organizations. Finalists are selected by panels of community volunteers. Each award has its own unique panel, which reviews the specific criteria and deliberates to select the finalists and winner. The winner for each category will be announced at the in-person awards ceremony Oct. 20. A full list of 2022 Salute to Excellence finalists can be found online at www.cnm.org/salute-to-excellence/salute-to-excellence-finalists.

Throughout its history, Salute to Excellence has featured more than 600 nonprofit finalists and awarded more than $3.5 million to exemplary recipient organizations and their leadership as it brings together leaders in local business, community and nonprofit sectors for a night of celebration.

The 2022 Salute to Excellence is made possible by corporate and philanthropic supporters throughout the region, including PNC Bank, which returns as the Hero of Excellence sponsor.
