CHUKKERS FOR CHARITY ANNOUNCES 2022 IRONHORSE FARMS AND LO KEY RANCH TEAMS

Nashville, Tenn. – Ironhorse Farms and Lo Key Ranch will compete at this year’s 26th annual Chukkers for Charity polo match at Orrin Ingram’s Riverview Farm on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The signature event returns with the theme “Journey into the Wild” where guests will enjoy safari-inspired décor and themes throughout the match to raise funds for Rochelle Center and Saddle Up! Both teams boast local favorite players, with the Ironhorse Farms team including Aaron Barrett, Wes Finlayson, Orrin Ingram, and captain, Armando Huerta, and the Lo Key Ranch team including Dan Lantham, Zulu Scott-Barnes, Augustine Lorea, and captain, Stevie Orthwein.

Captain of Ironhorse Farms’ team, Armando Huerta, has more than 25 years of professional experience in the sport of polo and a plethora of successes throughout the Southeastern region winning both of Tennessee’s highest rated tournaments last year: The USAP Sportsmanship Cup and The USPA Intra Circuit. Huerta is one of the top-rated polo pony trainers in the world.

Captain of Lo Key Ranch’s team, Steve Orthwein, is a third-generation polo player with roots in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2002 he won the National Intercollegiate Championship while attending UVA. Stevie has also been a three-time member of the U.S. Polo Team that competed in the 1998, 2005 and 2008 FIP World Championships. In 2019 and 2020 Stevie captained the Old Hickory Bourbon team that competed in the U.S. Open Polo Championship.

The gates open at 1 p.m. for tailgaters and 2 p.m. for sponsors and patrons. The opening ceremony will be held at 2:45 p.m. with the polo match beginning at 3 p.m. The Patrons Dinner is provided at half time and will begin at 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale now. Saddle Up!’s mission is to provide children and young adults with disabilities the opportunity to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational activities with horses. Saddle Up! is a year-round program that will serve nearly 180 children/young adults this year.
