ART AND RECREATION PROGRAMS AT THE FAIRVIEW RECREATION COMPLEX

The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department (WCPR) offers several art and recreation programs to the general public at the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Boulevard.

Tae Kwon Do

With over 30 years of experience, martial arts instructor, Eddie Manor is a great choice when it comes to learning the art of Tae Kwon Do. Students will gain confidence learning self-defense techniques; as well as, an appreciation for this Korean martial art. Classes for children, teens and adults are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Beginner students, ages 6 and up (white – yellow belt) meet from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and students ages 13 and up (green belt +) meet from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $60.00 per participant per month.

Pottery

Teens and adults ages 13 and up are invited to participate in the Pottery program with instructor, June Lusty on either Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon or 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. No experience is necessary! From those working with clay for the first time; to those who need a place to master their craft; all levels are welcome! All materials, pottery wheels and kilns are provided on-site. Cost is $12 per session*; plus a $25 supply fee, repayable every 6 visits. *Please note: projects can take multiple sessions to build, dry, paint, glaze and fire, depending on scope and size.

Bob Ross Certified Oil Painting Classes

Experience the “Joy of Painting” with Bob Ross Certified Instructor, Quintin Burlingame as he leads students, ages 13 and up, through the wet-on-wet method of oil painting made famous by this legendary artist. Whether new to painting or an expert, all will enjoy learning the techniques in one of these 3-hour class which will culminate in a beautiful 12×16 painting. Available classes include:

  • Saturday, April 17 – April Misty Mountains – 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 18 – April Misty Mountains – 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, May 15 – Tropical Seascape – 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 16 – Tropical Seascape – 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Cost is $60 per person, per class and includes all materials.

Advanced registration is required for all programs, and class sizes are limited to nine (9) individuals per class to meet social distancing requirements.
