Franklin Communication Team Wins 3rd Award for Census Campaign

3CMA Chooses Franklin for Most Innovative Communications
Franklin, TN – The City of Franklin announced today that its 2025 Franklin Special Census Video Campaign received Savvy Award for “Most Innovative Communications from 3CMA, a national City, County Government Communications Organization.
The City entered their census video campaign featuring a parody video of John Denver’s Annie’s Song with rewritten lyrics to inform citizens about the 2025 Franklin Special Census. The video was shot with a John Denver look-alike singing to residents about the special census.
The Savvy Awards, held in conjunction with 3CMA’s Annual Conference, honor outstanding local government achievements in communications, public-sector marketing, and resident-government relationships. The program salutes skilled and effective city, county, agency, and district professionals who have creatively planned and executed successful innovations in communications and marketing.
This year, more than 1,100 entries across 37 categories were submitted, showcasing the best work from local governments of all sizes and budget classes. Entries were evaluated by professional communicators from across the country, who reviewed each submission and provided constructive feedback to award winners.
“The Savvy Awards truly showcase the best of the best from local government communications professionals from across the country,” said Scott Lehtonen, Executive Director of 3CMA. “What makes the Savvies so meaningful is that every entry is reviewed and judged by peers who understand both the challenges and the creativity required to effectively engage communities.”

“It’s an honor to win the Savvy award from 3CMA, our third award this year for our Census Campaign.. To be honored by our peers across the country in local government communications is truly special,” said Chief Communications Officer Milissa Reierson. Along with Reierson, the award-winning team also includes Social and Digital Media Producer Stephen Price, Television and Operations Supervisor Robert Mott, Public Outreach/Video Production Coordinator Joey Echeverria, and Public Outreach and Special Events Supervisor Monique McCullough. “We worked with local actor Brian Jones who contributed his guitar playing, vocal talent and comedic acting skills,” added Reierson.
